Long-term care unit staff (female) : Mrs.Izumi

What made you want to become a long-term care worker?

I had the opportunity to have another job, and my first choice was to work in involved with people at that time, and I also wanted to do a job that would be useful to people, so I chose the job of long-term care.

When I actually worked in the field of long-term care, at first I was confused and had a hard time without knowing anything. As I got used to it over time, I became able to enjoy the long-term care work itself, and eventually I began to want to continue this work as long as I can.

When do you find it worth while to work as a long-term care worker?

When I see the smiles of the users and receive the words of gratitude, "Thank you," I feel the most rewarding at that time. Also, when the user gets well or when something good changes are seen, I think "Oh, I'm glad I did this job."

On the other hand, what kind of time do you think it is tough job?

"Long-term care" isn’t so easy work. It is very difficult to have communication with each person, and even if you want to respect the thoughts of the users, it will be very painful when that doesn’t work. However, if you are worried like that, your smile will disappear without you realizing it, and as a result, you may feel uneasy. Therefore, in such a case, I try to tell myself and switch my mind to work.

What are the tips for doing work while childcare?

I think the cooperation of my family is the most important thing. Other than that, I think it's important to have time to take a break. By refreshing myself, I think it has a positive effect on my work.

how is your workplace atmosphere?

The first impression was that "the staff are all kind and close." We also have cooperation with other departments, and I feel that the entire Kagaho is well organized. I also love the homely atmosphere.

Do you feel that you are growing up working at Kagaho?

I think that the job of "Long-term care" is a job that grows human beings. We get the real feeling by thinking and discussing every day and working based on them so that our users can lead a better life.

Do you have any advice for new staff (especially women with children)?

There are many staffs here in Kagaho who know the difficulty of raising children. We have a system in place for you to cooperate if there is anything, so feel free to consult with us.Also, I can take a day off properly and have almost no overtime, so I can switch between On and Off firmly.

Are you happy to work in this Kagaho now?

I personally like the work of "long-term care", and my desire to work in a special retirement home for the elderly has come true. I’m very happy because I’m able to work happily in new encounters with staffs and users.
